tPP Launches Data Visualization in Open-Source Database

Welcome to tPP’s new and improved open-source dataset! tPP is proud to introduce a data visualization tool integrated within our open-source database

In addition to already available query and filtering functions, users can now “choose their own path” and configure the data in any way by using any combination of available variables. Our new data visualization interface is flexible, and the potential constellations of data are as creative as the user imagines.

Users are empowered to explore tPP’s diverse dataset and can manipulate our data in a way distinctive from other datasets by selecting or deselecting any number of variables to curate as narrowly or broadly as the user casts. Users can easily select, search, sort, filter, and visualize data. Users are also able to download tPP’s entire dataset (or selected data) and save queries.

The updates to our database and new visualization feature focus primarily on:

1. A Comprehensive Knowledge Base

We understand that users value comprehensive and accurate information. Our data is backed by a robust and always growing knowledge base that covers identification, analysis, and assessment of thousands of cases. tPP seeks to identify correlations between who a defendant is, how they are charged and prosecuted, and other related factors, such as political ideology, religion, and the crime’s motive, means, target, and impact. Whether it’s frequently asked questions, troubleshooting guides, or step-by-step tutorials, users can access a wealth of information at their fingertips.

2. User Empowerment

Empowering users is the driving force behind tPP’s new data visualization tool. The new features not only resolve immediate inquiries but also empower users with knowledge. By encouraging self-sufficiency, the visualization tool fosters a sense of independence among users, making them feel more in control of their interactions with tPP’s platform.

3. Faster Resolution Time

Gone are the days of waiting for a response from a support team. The DIY feature allows users to get instant solutions to common queries. By providing quick and accessible information, the updates to our data visualization tool significantly reduce resolution times, leading to a more efficient and satisfying user experience.

4. Feedback Integration

Continuous improvement is KEY to our commitment to providing excellent open-source data. We have included a feedback mechanism allowing users to provide insights on their experience. This valuable feedback loop enables us to refine and enhance the website, data, and visualization features over time, making it even more user-friendly and effective.

Since publication of our dataset online in Summer 2023, dozens of major news outlets and academic institutions have accessed and used our data for independent research and reporting. With new troubleshooting guides and step-by-step tutorials, journalists, government officials, academics, and students alike can instantaneously access tPP’s entire dataset without needing to first contact a member of our team. This direct access removes the middle man, while new FAQ features explain how to use the available tools. A simple user manual and guided tour of our filtering and data visualization tools provide users with assistance throughout their experience.

Although direct access to tPP’s entire database is available at users’ fingertips and simple inquiries are easily self-served, the tPP team encourages and remains available to answer more complicated questions and data requests. Find our data request form here.
